SLU Connect - NYC: A Career Exploration Event for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors at St. Lawrence University
Get connected with alumni and parents through SLU Connect—NYC over Winter break!
SLU Connect-NYC is a career exploration event exposing students to a variety of industries and individuals in the New York City region. Matriculated sophomores, juniors and seniors selected through a competitive application process, attend career roundtable discussions and industry site visits, all hosted by Laurentians. Professional fields will include, but are not limited to, finance & business, media & communications, healthcare and many more. A networking event will afford students more opportunity to speak directly with alumni across multiple fields.
Event Dates: Monday, January 8 – Friday, January 12
Costs:
- There is no registration fee to take part in SLU Connect. Hotel accommodations (students will be in rooms of up to three people) and some meals will be covered.
- Students are responsible for covering approximately half of the meals, hotel incidentals, transportation to and from New York, applicable parking fees if students choose to take a personal vehicle, and personal transportation during the program.

- Letter of Interest (cover letter) indicating why you are interested in this program and location, and how you believe participation in this program will assist you in your career preparation.
Follow these steps to apply for the SLU Connect-New York City program:
1. Download and complete all required fields on the attached application form (scroll down to find "Attachment" link to the right).
2. Save and then upload the completed application.
3. Upload a resume and one-page letter of interest (cover letter) addressing why you are interested in this career exploration program and how you expect your participation will contribute to the group experience. Please save your documents with your name in the subject line (i.e. Jane Doe 2023 resume).
Some topics to consider for your letter of interest (cover letter) might include these: how the SLU Connect program might fit with your current career interests, curiosities or goals; why the geographic region is of interest; work or educational experiences you've had that align with your goals for this SLU Connect trip; what you hope to learn from this experience.

Given the nature of the connect programs, applicants must be matriculated sophomores, juniors or seniors to be considered for participation.
